The FLIR P-Series state-of-the-art infrared cameras are designed for professional infrared camera users.

A FLIR P-Series camera is the perfect instrument for users who know the advantages that infrared has to offer, and who rely on an infrared camera at work. Whether you are an infrared consultant or a PDM professional in the utilities- or manufacturing industry, the FLIR P-Series infrared cameras will help you trace anomalies invisible to the human eye.

Key Performance Features Include

640x480 pixel resolution

Higher resolution improves your inspections providing higher accuracy of measured temperatures spotting even small objects from a distance. This is of critical importance to many thermographers who need to minimize risk of missing faults that can develop to catastrophic failures. With a higher resolution camera you cover a bigger object with only one image. With lower resolution more images are needed to cover the same area with the same level of details in the image.

High sensitivity

The thermal sensitivity in the FLIR P-Series ranges from <40 mK (P620) to <30 mK (P660) depending on model. The better the sensitivity is the better the camera is to capture the finest image details even at low temperature differences. High detector sensitivity is particularly important for building applications where temperature differences are typically lower.

Powerful and interchangeable infrared lenses

A large diameter lens means more IR radiation reaches the detector, resulting in high quality IR images. The high precision germanium lenses in the P-Series with integral USM advanced focusing system and/or independant manual focusing are designed to take full advantage of the 640x480 pixel FPA detector. The P-Series features a standard 24º lens and optional 7º, 12º and 45º lenses.

Contrast Optimizer (only P660)

The Contrast Optimizer is a unique feature that enhances infrared images of objects having a lot of fine details. It optimizes automatically the brightness and contrast adjustment to make it easier to make thermal analyzes of detailed objects. Contrast Optimizer is an advanced military image processing technology for the first time implemented in a commercial infrared camera.

Measurement range

Electrical applications demand a higher measurement range that e.g. building applications. The P-Series measures temperatures from -40ºC to +500 ºC, optional up to +2000 ºC.

High quality visual camera

All P-Series models include an integrated 3.2 Mpixel visual camera, fixed lens, autofocus and lamp for shooting in dark environments.

FLIR embedded Geographic Positioning System (GPS) automatically documents satellite coordinates. The system enables technicians to view, analyze and directly localize infrared images from many different locations easily and quickly. It will also guide inspection and field repair teams to the correct location.

Built in GPS

Infrared images become geo-referenced and can be loaded into the Reporter software, offering links to available map and satellite imagery information systems (like Google® Earth) that indicates the geographic location of the images. P660 only – and upgraded versions of P620 & P640.

Wireless remote control - option

Available as an option the remote control is intended to be used when you cannot operate a FLIR 600 series camera in the normal way – for instance, when inspecting a large transformer with the camera on a high monopod, or in another situation when you need to be some distance away from the camera. When working with the remote control you first set up the camera as you would like it to be configured in your measurement situation. You do this by selecting what measurement tools you would like to be active, which color scale, etc. The most common use of the remote control is to focus the camera, adjust the level and span of the image, and maybe do some basic analysis using the already active measurement tools, and then store the image for later analysis.

Laser Pointer

A conveniently located button activates the Laser Pointer which increases accuracy by guiding you to the anomalies on the object. The FLIR P660 model has a more advanced Laser Pointer which automatically pinpoints te hot spot on the IR image with the real physical target. The Laser Pointer on FLIR 660-Series also has three available settings (which can be independently selected):

• Auto focus: Continuous auto focus on the laser spot
• Level: Automatic level adjustment on the laser spot
• Spot meter: A spot meter is automatically displayed in the IR image providing a temperature value for the laser spot position.

Measurement modes

• Movable measurement spots
• Automatic hot/cold detection; auto hot or cold spot meter markers within area
• Isotherms; an isotherm replaces certain colors in the scale with a contrasting color, which simplifies detecting a problem. Detect high, low and interval temperatures. An isotherm has a width and a temperature level which can be moved and stretched up and down in the scale.
• ΔT (Delta T) calculation. ΔT means the difference of the results between two measurement tools or one tool and a manually set reference temperature.
• Object parameters; possible to input values for emissivity, reflective apparent temperature, relative humidity, distance and atmospheric temperature.

FLIR Infrared Training Center (ITC) 1 Day Training Course

FLIR Infrared Training Center (ITC) offer a 1 day training course to coincide with the purchase of any new FLIR camera. They hold a number of day courses throughout the year and at locations across the country for your convenience. The 1 day training course takes you through the basics of thermography and allows you to have access to some first hand experience using your thermal imaging camera. It also enables you to ask any questions you may have with the experts at FLIR Systems. The 1 Day courses exclude travel and accommodation. Further details including costs, dates and venues can be obtained from our sales team.

Level 1, 2 and 3 Training Courses

For people wanting further training ITC offers Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 thermography courses. Here candidates can demonstrate competence by successfully fulfilling conditions and procedures showing compliance with certification requirements. ITC courses prepare the candidate for a certification exam in compliance to national and/or international standards.

NOTE Hire models are the P640 and P660 versions and are supplied as standard with 24 degree lenses. The wide angle lens is also available as an option at an extra charge.
